The Need

Rural Aging in Place and Staying Rooted in our Community:

The needs are clear. Our population is aging, and innovative community development is needed now to address the specific needs of older adults.

Dugald Place Assisted Living Residence will provide the opportunity to address a significant community challenge and turn it into a tremendous opportunity.

  • Currently, there is no assisted living residence in the RM of Springfield.

  • Waiting lists in the RM of Springfield for seniors’ independent housing, assisted living and personal care facilities are high.

  • Older adult populations are on the increase across Manitoba, and the impact on the economic, social, and familial fabric of our community as these people are forced to leave and live elsewhere is devastating.

  • Planning of an assisted living residence adjacent to the very popular Dugald Estates 55+ Independent Living Residence provides the opportunity for residents of Dugald Estates and the community to move seamlessly into Dugald Place when they need increased levels of support, and it allows our seniors to remain in their neighbourhood and close to their social networks.

  • Housing that provides physical, emotional, social supports and enables seniors to remain in the RM of Springfield will benefit the entire community.

It is good for our seniors.

It is good for their family and friends.

It is good for our community.
